Hinchcliffe's Farm

In-house design

The state-of-the-art restaurant and farm shop used bespoke and customised furniture to achieve a welcoming yet sophisticated look.

The Rusty Bull restaurant is a brand-new, state-of-the-art restaurant, located at Hinchcliffe’s Farm Shop in Netherton, Huddersfield.

Reputedly Britain’s first ever farm shop, Hinchcliffe’s Farm Shop opened way back in 1974. However, following a devasting fire back in 2010, the farm shop had to be rebuilt, and with it followed the new restaurant, The Rusty Bull.

The restaurant offers authentic dishes that celebrate all things from pasture to plate. The delicious menu offers substantial breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas, all using the finest ingredients, direct from the farm shop. To furnish the new restaurant, Hinchcliffe’s specified restaurant furniture, including bespoke and customised pieces, from contract furniture specialists Andy Thornton Ltd.

In the main restaurant area, we supplied our popular Repton side chairs and bar stools, upholstered in a mix of dark brown and cornflower blue contract leather, with and without the distinctive button back, to keep the overall look varied and interesting.

Bespoke tables in various sizes, with scaffold board tops in a natural patina, were finished to the customer’s precise specification. The tables each feature an industrial-style square tube frame, which were specially manufactured in our in-house workshops. The tables are teamed with Repton side chairs to provide plenty of dining space.

At the restaurant’s reception, an industrial-style counter creates plenty of useful, stylish storage. With a wooden countertop and hand-antiqued steel frame clad in corrugated iron, the Anderson counter features two open shelves at the back.

When the Yorkshire weather permits, a large attractive outdoor terrace by the main entrance provides plenty of extra seating for customers who want to eat and drink outside. Andy Thornton supplied chairs from the San Marino outdoor collection, in high-quality two-tone basket weave on a powder-coated aluminium frame. These are matched with San Marino tables, with a toughened glass top.

The Rusty Bull has received incredibly positive reviews since opening and is attracting customers both loyal and new, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the finest quality farm produce.
