In-house teams

A complete turnkey project, from concept, design development, product realisation and refurbishment through to installation on site for the Megan’s neighbourhood restaurant brand as it grows beyond its London origins.

The heart of St Albans now looks brighter, thanks to the arrival of Megan's at The Old Bell. The former pub now offers all-day dining with a Mediterranean accent for all the family—four-legged friends included. We also hear that their cookie dough dessert is to die for!

Upstairs there is also a private dining area and lounge, making it the perfect venue for meetings, parties or just taking a break.

Megan's long-standing relationship Andy Thornton Ltd continues with the manufacture and supply of all the furniture for the venue.

The entrance to the Old Bell is flanked by two lounges, complete with welcoming fireplaces. Here our client was able to take advantage of our refurbishing service; the existing fixed seating was removed and taken to our upholstery workshops, recovered and then carefully put back in place.

Reclaimed scaffold board table tops are paired with Step bases, custom finished in antique white and cut to the perfect height to match the client's vision for the relaxed lounge atmosphere. Marble tops paired with Dome bases finished in antique copper complete the mood.

Lounge height furniture in these snug rooms is chosen from of a variety of models—including Bertie, Clio and Della chairs—all upholstered in different fabric finishes and details, including split upholstery, deep button back, piping, stud details and turned legs. All timber finishes are stained to match providing consistency throughout the interior. Coffee tables are provided by our exclusive Weardale collection.

The centrepiece of this zone is a 5.8 metre long bespoke feature dining table. The hardwood oak edge table top is inlaid with tiles and is fitted to bespoke a floor-fixed A-frame metal base, manufactured and finished in antique white by our in-house metalwork department. The table was created in three sections and then connected and grouted on site.

We sourced and supplied the reclaimed shutters which clad the front of the bar. The bar stools are from the Denver and Spin ranges, both given antique vintage paint finishes with upholstered seat pads in tan leather.

In addition to our exclusive Java side chairs, additional Rattan furniture was sourced from Europe. All dining chairs have been given custom upholstered seat pads. Our Nouveau table bases were chosen and given custom in-house applied finishes: antique white, antique copper and verdigris.

Reclaimed Singer sewing machines were upcycled to create a unique table base design, with the industrial note further emphasised by cast iron adjustable tables which feature hand-antiqued tops.

On the first floor is a private dining room which can be hired for events, including a dining experience for up to 10 people. The room has both dining and lounge areas and here we supplied a variety of soft seating: lounge chairs and sofas with upholstery and detailing which reflects the Megan’s style. The soft seating is paired with unique products like our salvaged door coffee table with added toughened glass to withstand the testing contract environment.

A 2.71 metre long bespoke solid oak table was created for the private dining room. We produced a working drawing and produced a control sample for the lambs tongue edge profile and finish for client sign off. Fitted to 3 extra-large turned pedestal bases, the table was manufactured in two halves for assembly on site by our team.

We also supplied all the outdoor furniture for the terrace, using slatted iroko tops in a teak oil finish on Continental four leg table bases.
