El Gato Negro Tapas Liverpool is a new restaurant by Chef/Patron and Creative Director Simon Shaw, following his first opening in Ripponden, Yorkshire back in 2005. This hugely popular award-winning tapas restaurant relocated to Manchester in 2016, where it quickly became one of the North West’s most successful restaurants.
ANDY THORNTON CONTRACT FURNITURE
Located in the elegant converted Walker House, part of the landmark Exchange Flags building overlooking the iconic Nelson monument, the stunning interior of the bar and restaurant was designed by Mark Mason Design, and features contract furniture from Andy Thornton on all three floors.
Our classic Fan Back bentwood armchairs were given a bespoke twist with the seat, back and arms upholstered in a cracked, matte characterful leather in soft red. The characterful leather is flameproofed to the UK contract standard Crib5, so they are perfect for contract applications. Additional studded detailing around the back completes the warm and elegant look. Bentwood bar stools, upholstered again in red leather to match the armchairs, sit at high tables and create informal dining areas for eating and drinking.
BESPOKE CURVED TABLES
Bespoke tables, again from Andy Thornton, are crafted in white Carrera marble and fit perfectly in the centre of velvet teal booths, creating a neat dining solution. One end has been carefully crafted into a semi-circular shape, mirroring the pleasingly curved shape of the booths.
STYLISH & RELAXED ATMOSPHERE
In the bar area, bespoke bar stools with comfortable, full fluted backs are upholstered in a rich contract quality pale blue leather. These stylish stools sit around the attractive copper-topped bar, the glass storage rack above festooned with greenery to create a refined and relaxed area for customers to chat and socialise over a few drinks.
Elsewhere, by the large windows, velvet button-back sofas are paired with Andy Thornton round white marble tops, fitted onto our popular Inox square table bases in cast iron.
Since opening its doors, El Gato Negro has consistently received acclaim from customers and critics alike for its style and relaxed, yet refined, dining experience. A new Leeds opening is now planned for winter 2019.
