The Cherry Tree

In-house teams

We supplied all the loose furniture for the refurbishment of this bustling bistro restaurant, creating a rich, autumnal look with flashes of industrial style.

The Cherry Tree in Blackrod, near Bolton is a bustling bistro restaurant, noted for its traditional thatched roof, which gives it a homely rustic cottage feel. The family owned restaurant and bar is widely regarded as the best restaurant in Bolton and offers classic British cooking with a modern influence, using only the freshest, local produce.

The bar area of The Cherry Tree had not been updated for a while and was definitely due a refresh. The inspiration for the colour scheme was a striking timber- and mirror-clad feature wall, designed in-house by father and son Tom and Paul Taylor, who own the restaurant, and manufactured and installed by the Andy Thornton team. The rest of the interior, colours and furniture were all selected to match. We were able to help the client to select the overall colour scheme, as well as recommend furniture styles and fabric options.

Andy Thornton Ltd supplied all the loose furniture for the refurbishment. Rich, autumnal colours were used to create a warm, cosy, traditional look, with flashes of industrial style provided by the clever use of lighting and industrial-style bar stools in leather and steel. An extra element of the industrial is provided by bespoke poseur tables, which the client had fallen in love with on a visit to the Andy Thornton showroom. Initially designed for a hotel project in Manchester, the bespoke tables sit next to the industrial feature wall and add a real wow factor, matched with Andy Thornton Feltham swivel bar stools, upholstered in a practical and durable red faux leather.

Sappho armchairs upholstered in a rich Highland print fabric are paired with our versatile Industrial tables with a smooth teak top, to create a cosy seating area near to the bar.

For the attractive high dining area, our stylish Repton bar stools are upholstered in a mixture of earthy tones. These substantial bar stools feature a deep button back and solid beech frame, which can be finished in any colour. The stools are paired with bespoke poseur tables, again by Andy Thornton, which have a steel frame and a smooth, solid ash top.

The owners are delighted with the finished look and plan to move onto refreshing the rest of The Cherry Tree restaurant very soon.
