York, North Yorkshire
The new 130 cover Premier Racing Lounge at York Racecourse has just opened, in readiness for the balance of the 2019 Flat Season. Superbly located on the ground floor of the Melrose Stand, the lounge is a new concept, offering a great position with a touch of luxury. It has views towards the finishing line and winners's enclosure ring on two aspects.
Working closely with York Racecourse Facilities Manager Gavin Patterson, Andy Thornton supplied all the customer furniture for the Premier Racing Lounge. Gavin selected Andy Thornton's popular Flint collection of lounge furniture. He chose a mix of armchairs and bar stools with tables and poseur tables, to create different viewing levels in the lounge, to enhance the overall ambience.
The chairs and bar stools have been upholstered in a stylish nu-buck style faux leather, in a mix of pastel colours, with beech legs stained an ebony finish. Cast iron Quadra tables and poseur tables have solid 32 mm thick character oak tops in a clear natural finish. All tops are 750 mm square to provide table settings for four people per table, which can be butted together to create tables of eight if required.
The room features a number of large viewing screens and the walls have been decorated with large-scale York racing-themed murals. Food is based on pre-ordered platters of cured meats, cheeses, olives and artisan breads.
The Premier Racing Lounge is proving very popular with racegoers and is already sold out for a number of this season’s popular meetings.
