Set in a grand listed former bank building in the heart of mid-town Manchester, the 60-room Art Deco style Hotel Gotham opened recently to much critical acclaim. Owners Bespoke Hotels have fully refurbished the property as a luxury 5 star hotel, fulfilling the promise to make it ‘a fun, witty destination and a little bit naughty’.
On the 7th floor, walking through an impressive vault-like entrance, you enter Club Brass, a VIP lounge based on a Prohibition-style speakeasy. Here designer Oliver Redfern specified various furnishings from Andy Thornton.
We supplied the decorative tin tiles that have been used so effectively to clad most of the walls in Club Brass. The tiles have been painted in a luxurious metallic paint finish, to complement the sumptuous leather banquette seating. Andy Thornton also supplied the bespoke industrial-style high tables complete with highlighted stud detailing, which work perfectly alongside the button-back leather bar stools.
In the atmospheric Honey Restaurant, which serves modern British cuisine, Andy Thornton supplied the workshop-style pendants above the food servery area and matching wall lights in the dining area. These unusual light fittings, supplied in an attractive antique nickel finish, feature a ‘scissor action’ arm that allows the fitting to be adjusted up and down where required.
