CHARACTERFUL 17TH CENTURY BUILDING

Keepers Kitchen & Bar, in the Mercure Eastgate Hotel in Oxford, is a great place to eat, drink and unwind. Part of AccorHotels Group, it is ideally located in the heart of the city, next to the University of Oxford. The hotel occupies a characterful 17th-century building, once frequented by author JRR Tolkien.

CONTRACT FURNITURE SPECIALISTS

For the interior of the urban honey themed restaurant, the designers on the project, Central Design Studio, had detailed and complex specific requirements and also a strict budget. To fulfil this challenging brief, they turned to contract furniture specialists Andy Thornton.

BESPOKE FINISHES

The devil was all in the detail on this high-profile project. All the bespoke finishes were controlled via sample sign-off, ensuring each product met the client’s exact requirements. We worked closely with the designers to get the exact finishes they needed, making this project completely unique.

HONEYCOMB THEMED FEATURE WALL

An intimate private dining room in the restaurant features a large timber table paired with Cross Back side chairs, which have an antique patina steel frame and distressed wood finish. To create a focal point in this cosy space, the Andy Thornton Metalwork Department created a stunning bespoke feature wall, with panels featuring steel rods in a hexagonal grid pattern, to echo the restaurant’s bee theme, and decorated with wall lights and hanging plants. Timber panelling under the pattern completes this unique feature.

BESPOKE DIVIDER SCREEN

Another unique touch in the restaurant was created by the addition of a bespoke timber and blackened steel divider screen, placed between dining areas. Designed by Central Design Studio, the attractive screen was manufactured in the Andy Thornton workshops before being carefully transported and installed on site.
