Iconic footwear brand Dr. Martens have opened their latest store in the cultural destination and the brand’s spiritual home of Camden, London. Situated in Camden Market, this is Dr. Martens new UK flagship store and the most innovative retail space to date, located in a Grade II* listed 19th Century former tack room for horses.
The store is a celebration of the brand’s cultural heritage and carries the full Dr. Martens range, across men’s, women’s and kids and also presents an extensive range of industrial product which sits at the heart of the brand. The store tells the story with images and artifacts from the mid 1900s through to the present day, with select industrial-style retail display fittings sourced from Andy Thornton Ltd.
A number of visual merchandising pieces from Andy Thornton’s hugely successful Vintage Style Collection can be seen around the store, complementing the original brickwork and stripped pine flooring. The large Hardware Store Shelf Unit, featuring a rivet-effect steel frame in an aged iron patina with timber shelves and pull-out drawers, has plenty of display space for footwear and accessories.
Two Post Office shelving units, which incorporate multi-wire mesh compartments, are ideal for displaying various styles of the famous brand, blending seamlessly with the period arched metal window frames and original props. The Tall Footwear shelving unit in a distressed grey finish is a useful piece for small spaces and ideal for displaying boots, clothing & accessories in its multi-height wire mesh compartments.
A Dr. Martens spokesperson said: “By opening a store in Camden Market it positions the brand in its rightful home – an area steeped in authenticity and musical heritage. We see it quickly becoming a cultural hub for the brand, its fans and Camden.”
