EXTERNAL TERRACE BALUSTRADE

EXTERNAL TERRACE BALUSTRADE

27 Esplanade is a prestigious commercial property on the shorefront in St Helier, Jersey, by developer Dandara, one of the UK’s largest independent property companies. Almost half the office space forms the new headquarters for JTC, the global equity fund administrators.

We were approached by Dandara’s quantity surveyor Giles McDermott to quote to supply the sixth-floor external terrace balustrade, two interior staircase handrails and a rear entrance balustrade, all designed by Jersey-based Morris Architects.

MIRROR FINISH

MIRROR FINISH

The stylish 25-metre long terrace balustrade was fabricated in mirror-finish 316 grade stainless steel in the Andy Thornton workshops in Elland. The 1100 mm tall balustrade, with a 0.74 kN/metre loading, features decorative laser-cut fins between laminated toughened glass with polished edges and a 51 mm handrail. The balustrade is bolted into the floor and sides before cladding.

SIX-STOREY STAIRCASE

SIX-STOREY STAIRCASE

The two internal six-storey staircase handrails feature 42 mm handrail and glazed balustrades in satin finish 304 grade stainless steel, combining 51 mm structural posts and 10 mm toughened glass panels. The handrail was constructed using flush elbows, bends and glass clamps from the Andy Thornton product range, plus specially manufactured side mountings, for additional strength.

Finally, for the rear external entrance, we provided a 6-metre remountable stainless steel glazed balustrade.
