The Hare & Hounds at Osterley is a popular traditional pub that has recently been refurbished by owners Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC. The pub, only minutes from the hustle and bustle of Hammersmith and Ealing, is surrounded by green fields and is a popular place to meet up for a meal or drink.
Fuller’s commissioned this impressive shelter from Andy Thornton. We designed, manufactured and installed the structure, in a sensitive design in keeping with the main building, as the pub is in a conservation area.
We decided to utilise the tall gable lines and mock Tudor look of the existing building as the design format. We combined decorative columns and brackets from our standard colonnade systems, with glazed gables that were vertically split to reflect the mock Tudor timber gable ends of the pub.
The structure covers an area of around 47.5 square metres and has a bronze “optifloat” toughened glass roof, to lessen the sun’s glare on bright days. The structure has proved to be a great success with drinkers and diners looking for an alfresco experience.
