The quintessential American steakhouse experience Smith & Wollensky, has opened its first venue outside the US, in the cultural oasis of the West End of London. The landmark corner site close to Covent Garden features the restaurant’s trademark branded green window awnings either side of an impressive curved entrance canopy, supplied by Andy Thornton.

A building of this quality in such an iconic location, deserves a decorative structure in keeping with its stunning architecture and this three metre wide by two metre deep sloping cantilevered canopy certainly does that.

An elegant circle frieze to the perimeter of the frame is supported on two curved spandrels with load-bearing tie bars above. The structure is glazed in 10mm thick toughened safety glass, retained in our two-part patent glazing system. It also incorporates a structural gutter to the abutment of the building.
