An innovative ocean-themed restaurant at an £8-million leisure development needed contract furniture that would stand the test of time.

The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre is a new £8-million mixed leisure development that has recently opened alongside the Barton Grange Garden Centre in Brock, near Preston. The new building, with its undulating grass roof, offers a range of exciting activities including eight lanes of 10-pin bowling, a 1,000m² curling rink, two golf simulators and an 18-hole crazy golf course.

As well as numerous sports facilities, The Flower Bowl also boasts a three-screen cinema, a hotel, restaurants, bars and an ice-cream and coffee shop. The main restaurant is The Ocean, a traditional fish and chip shop with two themed settings for customers to dine in true seaside style.

In Ocean Beach, where you can almost feel the sand between your toes and the sun on your back, we supplied 30 solid timber pedestal table bases complete with laminate tops in a beach hut style weathered pine finish. These have been matched with over 60 steel-frames chairs with slatted seat and back in a hand-applied cream paint finish.

In Ocean Depths, you feel you’re on the seabed surrounded by the deep blue and all its hidden treasures. Here, we supplied bespoke versions of our popular rivet table with rust-effect laminate tops and our top-selling Cross Back side chair.

The initial aim of creating this innovative destination was to attract more people to the garden centre, however The Flower Bowl has proved so popular that it is now a destination in its own right.
