Soho bar stool
Design & Fit-Out: Blue Jelly
Andy Thornton Ltd has manufactured and supplied bespoke workplace tables, occasional furniture and much of the seating for the new dedicated training facilities in the London offices of BaxterStorey on Gray’s Inn Road, Clerkenwell. The leading independent hospitality and food service provider for business and industry has created a dedicated Barista Academy Training Centre, as well as completely refurbishing the reception and meeting rooms.
In the open-plan ‘Work, Play & Be Kind’ reception/welcome area adjacent to the Barista Academy, Andy Thornton supplied a large 3200 mm x 1200 mm table. It features a chunky industrial-style steel base in an aged finish, with a 32 mm thick solid character oak top. This has been matched with their popular Soho side chairs, which feature bonded tan leather seats and backs.
In the barista area itself, Soho bar stools have been used around the tall prep table.
For ‘The Colony’, the main presentation room, designers Blue Jelly commissioned a bespoke 4.2 m long ergonomically designed conference table from Andy Thornton, which seats 15 delegates, complete with cut-outs and a hidden cable management tray. It has been specially designed for video conferencing purposes, as it tapers from 2.0 m wide at one end to 1.4 m wide at the other. This allows each delegate to have uninterrupted views of the screens as well as being clearly visible to the cameras.
Said Barista Academy manager Jana Slamova: “The Barista Academy mission is to help catering teams enhance their coffee knowledge and the way they serve it. The training centre is a fantastic space for our aspiring baristas to use, to learn and develop their skills.”
