Antique pharmacy shop interior

Our antiques buyer has uncovered this stunning former pharmacy interior circa 1920, which has lain hidden in storage for many years in a Portuguese antique dealer’s warehouse.

Believed to have originally been a pharmacy shop interior in Sao Paulo, Lisbon, it comprises a matching pair of large display cabinets, plus a similar smaller cabinet. The cabinets are very versatile with lots of potential new applications, including many retail possibilities such as vintage apothecary, delicatessen, bakery and gift shop. They could also be used in a restaurant, a coffee shop or even a hotel public space.

The two larger cabinets feature fluted columns with carved capitals and etched glass signwriting in ruby red. The heavily carved divider brackets have a distinct Moroccan influence. These sit on a solid Rosa Amora marble worktop with mirrored back panels, creating the illusion of space.

The solid teak and pine display cabinets have been completely restored before being re-finished in an eye-catching traditional pale green colour-washed finish, allowing the dark teak timber to show through.

The length of both the two larger cabinets is 4870 mm each and the shorter one is 1320 mm.
