Quo Vadis ristorante

Andy Thornton completed the design, manufacture and installation of this stunning contemporary staircase for the popular Quo Vadis Ristorante Italiano in Wakefield. Fabricated entirely in-house by Thornton’s skilled Architectural Metalwork Department, the staircase was built to link the existing restaurant to a new first floor bar.

The main features of the staircase are the striking laser-cut stainless steel fins flanking both sides of the glazed balustrade panels. The solid oak treads alternate with 9.5mm toughened glass risers, allowing unrestricted light to flood into the entrance of the restaurant, whilst ensuring total customer safety.

Andy Thornton also manufactured the entrance vestibule from powder-coated steel and glass. Sparkling floor-to-ceiling glass panels maintain the spacious and light atmosphere. The adjacent supporting pillar was clad in stainless steel sheet to match the rest of the décor.

The new upstairs bar features a contemporary glass rack above the counter, again supplied by Andy Thornton. It was specially manufactured to follow the long, curved shape of the bar. The rack is in stainless steel, to match the handrails and footrails.

Finally the client selected lounge furniture from Andy Thornton’s extensive contract furniture range. Bolivar contemporary two-seater leather sofas in dark brown leather offer maximum comfort and durability. Bespoke, ultra modern tub chairs in red leather add a vibrant dash of colour, whilst glass-topped tables and an antique-effect clock complete the relaxing, inviting lounge look.
