Andy Thornton & The Bear's Paw

Interior fit-out contractor Andy Thornton has just completed the supply and fix of all the specialist joinery to the public areas of The Bear’s Paw. Situated in the picturesque village of Warmingham in the heart of Cheshire, this delightful 19th century hotel and restaurant has finally re-opened after a £2.5 million post fire re-build. The hotel features an impressive restaurant, bar and lounge along with luxurious boutique style bedrooms.

Having previously completed major refurbishments at the client's other hotel, The Grosvenor Pulford, Andy Thornton was contacted by Mr and Mrs Nelson to tender for fitting out the public areas.

Bar Area at The Bear's Paw

Last summer, Andy Thornton was commissioned to supply fixed seating for the project but this was interrupted by a fire that destroyed the hotel interior. In February this year, Mr and Mrs Nelson made contact once again requesting the supply and fix of all the interior joinery to the public areas.

The client's brief to Andy Thornton was that the interior fixtures and fittings had to look as though they had always been there. They even supplied a number of reclaimed pieces themselves to incorporate in the scheme. These antiques were combined with new bespoke joinery to really bring the interior design together. The timescale was extremely tight and many of the original pieces had to be stripped, repainted and altered to suit the new layout.

Oak Wall Panelling featuring Egg and Dart Moulding

The Bear’s Paw now features a 130 seater restaurant, surrounded by reclaimed panelling, seasoned oak flooring made from French railway sleepers, fitted bookcases and ornate fireplaces. The oak wall panelling features intricate egg and dart moulding and the stunning fireplace incorporates barley twist columns, creating an impressive centrepiece in the lounge area.

The main bar features two open fires with decorative surrounds, reclaimed antique oak flooring and more than 200 pictures adorning the oak panelled walls. The attractive bar counter is oak panelled and the back fittings feature prominent wine displays. The inn has kept its traditional charming character yet with a stylish contemporary twist.

Work was also carried out on the fixing of the reclaimed wooden floor as well as the manufacture and fitting of fixed seating, bookcases, display cases, waiter stations, service station and bar and backfitting.

With the refurbishment now complete, The Bear’s Paw provides a warm and friendly ambience making it the ideal place to truly indulge, enjoy and relax.
