Andy Thornton wins International Business of the Year award

West Yorkshire based Andy Thornton Ltd is delighted to have been awarded the Halifax Courier International Business of the Year award. The award is the culmination of a record year for export for Andy Thornton, at £9.9 million, with recently completed orders in India, Portugal, Menorca, Poland and Romania. The company has also had a great start for next year, having won international contracts in Dubai, Norway and Holland and has confirmed orders to supply cruise ships, hotels and restaurants in countries including Belgium, Latvia, Russia, Mexico, Japan, Bahrain and Australia.

Andy Thornton Ltd is a worldwide supplier of furniture, lighting, accessories and architectural antiques, plus interior fit-out services to hotels, restaurants and bars. The company employs 190 staff at three sites in Elland, West Yorkshire, and last year achieved an increase in turnover of £3 million, a growth of 18% year on year.

Managing Director Peter Siddall was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the company. He described the award as, “A fantastic achievement, because there are some very enterprising companies in Calderdale and the competition was tough. The award reflects the creative talent, skill, dedication and hard work of everyone working for the company.”

The company is currently further reinforcing its global presence by expanding its dynamic website into ten different languages initially, to further attract international customers in the hospitality market, including Germany, Russia, China and Sweden.
