MOVEMENTS
Our clock operating system consists of individual mechanisms driving the hands.
They are non ferrous throughout and made to the highest specification and accuracy. This approach does away with problems often associated with a single mechanism driving through sets of mechanical gears.
The motors have long shafts to avoid shadows on the dials
CONTROL
A re-sychroniser is fitted as standard to the Rothwell clock. This device will automatically adjust for BST twice yearly and will restore correct time after a power cut.The unit is pre-programmed with the BST/GMT time changes for 20 years from date of purchase. At 2.00am on the appropriate date, the unit will hold off power to the clock for either one or eleven hours.
An optional extra is the Master Clock Controller
This unit is housed within each clock mechanism. The signal and power supply is distributed by the first clock to any others in a chain. The unit can be operated by either our 12v mains transformer or our battery backed power supply unit. Our Master clock has been designed to automatically keep the clock(s) operating and showing the correct time even during power failures.
The atomic time signal is detected by the Receiver, this is decoded and passed to a microprocessor incorporated in each unit, checking and carrying out daily adjustments when required and automatically adjusting the clocks for BST / GMT changes. For remote or overseas locations where the signal is weak, a GPS alternative will be fitted
An optional battery backed power supply unit ensures the clock(s) can continue to operate for several days without mains power.
ILLUMINATION
Internal illumination or backlighting can be provided for the skeleton type dial. This is a 36W long-life fluorescent with photo-cell control. The motors have long shafts to avoid shadows on the dials The classic dial cannot be backlit.
EXTRAS
An Electronic Bell Chiming Systems can often be seen as the finishing touch. We have a choice of such systems which play a selection of chimes every quarter hour using digitised bell recordings. Additional “tunes” can be imported. Night silencing is also a standard feature, as is volume control.
Cover glasses can be fitted to protect the dials and hands against vandalism and extreme weather. These are convex mouldings in uv polycarbonate
Signage can be added in the form of logos or motifs to the dials or clock structure. We can also fit a plaque in place of one or more of the dials
INSTALLATION
The Rothwell needs a substantial base of a 75cm cube of concrete, or a slab of minimum thickness of 200mm. A 230v 5A feed will be required.
It will be delivered in two parts. The column will bolt to the concrete with M20 bolts with the feed conduit drawn into the base fusebox.
The clock housing will need a crane or forklift to lift into position.
Full instructions for installation and commissioning are delivered with the clock.
