Sjakk Matt

Location: Oslo
Client: Sjakk Matt AS
Architect: Riss Design

Andy Thornton worked with Riss Design to create magnificent glass panels depicting an historic scene for Sjakk Matt (Check Mate) cafe in Oslo, Norway.

The traditional panels positioned along  a side wall measure 1200 x 4500mm and combine  architectural vision with artisan skills and craftsmanship.

They show a king and queen seemingly being advised by a wise man in a rich tableau. Rich greens, reds and blues are contrasted with golden shades to regal affect.

The bespoke stained glass panels were installed as part of a general refurbishment of the Sjakk Matt cafe.
