16.11.2011 - Andy Thornton at the latest Jamie’s Italian
The latest Jamie's Italian, the hugely successful award-winning restaurant concept, recently opened on Threadneedle Street in London, with Andy Thornton supplying much of its loose furniture.
Located in the heart of the financial district, the building is rich in banking tradition, featuring many original mouth-watering architectural features. The designers, Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS), made stunning use of the decorative high ceilings, stone columns and arched windows and entryways.
MBDS worked closely with us to source furniture from our extensive range, specifying special finishes and high quality leather upholstery.
In the main dining area, we supplied traditional country-kitchen style slat back dining chairs. The high quality solid beech chairs were specially lacquered and hand-waxed in a deep purple/red colour and upholstered in dark brown pull-up leather, which was carefully finished with a blend of oils and waxes to create a distressed finish.
We also supplied 80 solid oak table bases with a single or twin pedestals and matching rectangular and circular oak tops with a special ogee shaped edge profile. Like the chairs, the tables were stained and waxed to an exact specification, to create the desired effect.

It is unique touches like these that capture the ethos of Jamie’s Italian – appealing, informal and unpretentious; a place where everyone feels comfortable.
