Laocoon the High Priest of Troy who warned the Trojans in vain against accepting the Greek gift of the Trojan Horse. In the Aeneid he is the source of the line “beware of Greeks bearing gifts”. 
This bust has been inspired by a sculpture in the Vatican Museum Rome - depicting Laocoon being strangled by a sea-serpent sent by Poseidon.
